Out with the old, in with the new

A few days ago my office chair died a sudden and tragic death. No amount of duck tape, screwdrivers or 10 ton epoxy could fix the problem so I had to face facts.

I needed a new chair.

After a few agonizing days of using an uncomfortable kitchen chair I finally picked up my new office chair today and it's like sitting on a pillow of clouds and rainbows.

I should have thrown out my old chair years ago.

Catch of the Day

My friends son Nathan, who is 5, has started to draw quite a bit in the last few months. He also love to throw out LEGO building instructions and do his own free builds, which are usually pretty darn cool.

I've decided to start turning his drawings into LEGO creations for him and 1st up for conversion from drawing to LEGO is his Lobster.

Not much correction was done to this photo. Colors were adjusted, areas were darkened and the photo was cropped.

Mickey Mouse

This build started out as a quick pencil sketch on notebook paper. This drawing was used as a sizing guide when building the Mickey Head MOC. The sketch worked surprisingly well and eliminated any guess work.

This movie was an anomaly for its time. It was the first "A" science fiction alien movie with top notch actors, directors, music, etc in an era where most alien movies were low budget and shot in 1 week or less

This movie also produced one of the first memorable robots, Gort, and the now often quoted phrase "Klaatu barada nikto"

Hillside Moai of Rapa Nui

Also known as the Easter Island heads.

I watched a documentary yesterday about this island, the ancient people who lived there and why and how they think these people carved and moved these massive Moai to their present locations.

The island is now home to 887 of these Moais. They vary in height from 12 ft to 30 feet and the heaviest Moai weighs 82 tons.

Rapa Nui is also known as Easter Island because the Europeans first landed here on Easter day.

This is based off an image found on shutterstock. Everything is stock legos except the "super sound" text with was digitally added.

Now I just need to get a group of friends together to make a zombie movie and just randomly come across a train which crashes and releases an alien into my small town. I'd be a zillionaire if I could sell that story.. oh wait, it's already been done. Darn.

Tribute In Lights

The Tribute in Light is an art installation of 88 searchlights placed next to the site of the World Trade Center to create two vertical columns of light in remembrance of the September 11 attacks. It is produced annually by The Municipal Art Society of New York. It initially ran as a temporary installation from March 11 to April 14, 2002, and was launched again in 2003 to mark the second anniversary of the attack. As of 2010, it has been repeated every year on September 11.
