Expect the Unexpected

This was a very interesting week that caught us completely off guard.

On Wednesday morning at 1:30 am a train carrying 30,000 gallons of hydrochloric acid starting leaking and we were subject to a mandatory evacuation for a minimum of 48 hours.

We packed up our clothes, dogs and hightailed it out of there as fast as we possibly could. customBRICKS was closed from Wed 4/20 until this morning 4/23.

Thank you to all for your thoughts and well wished for a fast and safe cleanup. The leak was stopped and the area was neutralized and should be safe now but we will not be taking the dogs for a walk in that area for a while… just to be safe!

We sure could have used about 30,000 of these Hazmat Guys to assist with the cleanup

Legoland

Recently we had the opportunity to take a long deserved vacation and shut down customBRICKS for about a week. For this vacation we decided to head to southern California and see the sights in and around the San Diego area. One of these sites was Legoland and it was quite an experience!

We somehow got a super deal on passes and purchased a 5 day pass for the price of 1 day. In total we spent 4 1/2 days at Legoland, and still didn't get to do all of the rides. This theme park is designed for children, but we adults had a great time as well...it was truly a Lego paradise.

We were fortunate enough to randomly have been at Legoland the same week that the Star Wars section in Miniland was unveiled and opened to the public. There were people dresses up as Star Wars characters (they were hired help, not visitors) and there were many life size Lego creations on hand so you could take your picture next to them. Our favorite was R2-D2.

a behind-the-scenes look at assembling of part of the Star Wars exhibit in Miniland (2 days before the opening)
Creating a sandy masterpiece - 5 of the worlds best sand sculptors made this in less than 2 days and all they used was sand, water, buckets and trowels

And last, but not least a man who need no introduction (but we'll do it anyway!)

Series 4 Minifigs

Lego Series 4 minifigures are here!

Series 4 adds 16 all-new, special minifigures to the growing LEGO Minifigure Collection. Each character has its own special accessories, display plate and collector’s leaflet. Inspired by movies, sports, history and just everyday life, this collection includes:  The Monster, Surfer Girl, Sailor, Kimono Girl, Punk Rocker, Viking, Ice Skater, Hockey Player, Street Skater, Hazmat Guy, Musketeer, Werewolf, Artist, Crazy Scientist, Soccer Player and Lawn Gnome.

Our favorite Series 4 figures here at customBRICKS are: The Monser, Werewolf, Artist and Hockey Player.
By far our favorite accessory for Series 4 is the Electric Guitar that comes with the Punk Rocker!

DECODE THE MYSTERY. Looking for a way to figure out what is in the bag before you buy it? Each minifigure can be identified with a series of dots that have been "punched" into the bag. For this series they are located at the bottom of each bag. Below we have included the decoder for this series. Sometimes this system works, sometimes it does not. Sometime the punches are almost non-existent and impossible to see, sometimes the bag was not punched correctly and is actually missing punches or they are half off the bag. However, armed with this decoder you now have a much better chance of buying what you wanted instead of purchasing 12 bags and getting 9 Artist minifigures.
