Toys For Tots

Toys For Tots by customBRICKS

As Creations for Charity comes to an end for 2012 we would like to take this time to thank everyone for their generous donations of time and creations. With everyone’s stellar efforts this has been the best year to date for the charity and a lot of kids will have a wonderful Christmas this year.

We would also like to thank everyone for their guessing donations for our mini fund raiser: Guess the Quantity and Weight for a bag of bases.

There were a total of 198 guesses made in 2 days raising $59.40 in donations. We are matching that amount so the total raised for Creations for Charity is $120.00.

And last, but not least the results and winners of the guessing contest are:

Qty: with the 1st correct guess of 500 bases goes to Sage
Qty Honorable Mentions: Kralcman and J.L.C.

Weight: with the closest guess to the actual weight of 439 grams also goes to Sage

Honorable Mention with the most hilarious guess of 25,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 tons goes to 101CRIMPY101

Honorable mention for the most persistent in trying to get an answer out of me on the totals goes to: XXDeadmanZZ

The Demise of Aunt Bethanys Cat

Via Flickr:
"If that cat had nine lives it just spent 'em all" - Cousin Eddie

Christmas Vacation is one of my favorite holiday movies and there are just so many scenes that can be made into vignettes.

This vignette is when the cat goes under the chair, chews on the electrical cord and accidentally kills herself.

It's classic Griswold.

Concept R2-D2

I'm not even sure where to begin with this creation.... it's just perfect. My favorite part of this one is the creative part usage of the DeathStar as the head of R2.

Build by: Eric "ET" Tetangco
Shown at Los Angeles LUG at 2012 Long Beach Comic Con

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Tomorrow, November 26th, will be the 86th annual Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York.

When I think of the Parade 3 things come to mind: ginormous balloons, the Santa Float and Miracle on 34th Street.

This is my Lego version of the parade complete with the Santa float and Lego Man balloon.

A little about the build:

The Lego Man balloon is a lego flashlight with the pin and key chain removed.
He was then suspended above the vignette with fishing line and the lines were digitally removed.

Size is 16x32 studs

A special thanks goes to my friends husband, Michael, who suggested that I do a Lego Man balloon instead of a regular balloon.

Goodby Twinkie

The Twinkie is one thing I though would always be around because of the million year shelf life.

I heard over the weekend that Hostess was trying to close its doors because of some sort of union problem. Today they announced that they are in Mediation with the Bakers Union per orders from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

In case the negotiations don't go well get your Twinkies while you still can! I haven't eaten a Twinkie in over ten years (gasp!) but I would still like the option to go out and purchase one if I'm struck with a craving.

Twinkie, you will be missed.

Build it Yourself 2012: Turkey Platter

Build it Yourself 2012 continues this week with a mouth-watering Turkey Platter! It features a unique build method for the turkey—the bird is put together at a 45° angle to allow the wings and legs to point in the correct direction without clips or hinges.

Find out how to build it yourself over at chrismcveigh.com/

Or buy a kit directly from Chris at powerpig.storenvy.com/

Tire Swing

I love this build for 3 reasons:

1. It's simple
2. It's instantly recognizable, even from the thumbnail
3. The subject matter is something everyone can relate to; summer and childhood.

R2 and 3PO

R2 and 3PO Charity Characters by Legohaulic
My favorite character in the Star Wars universe is R2-D2 and I really wanted to purchase this creation, created by the talented Tyler (Legoholic), but alas. Someone beat me to it.

There is still 3 weeks left to check out the donations for Creations for Charity. Interested in buying or donating a creation? Visit Creations for Charity at their website, Bricklink Store and on Indiegogo
